Mexican lawmaker is exposed...for being exposed

Dalia Perez, a member of the Veracruz state-legislature who had been contemplating a run for a national-level position, probably ought to start rethinking her five-year plan. Last week, a heated debate was sparked when clips from the movie "Xalapeño Chiles," in which Perez appears stripping down to the delight of a corrupt, ogling politician, were posted for the public to see on YouTube. To avoid charges of condoning the video's illicit content, I'm not gonna post the video here. Instead, I'll give you a link. That makes it OK, right?

As the linked article mentions, reactions are largely split along gender lines; several fellow female lawmakers have come to her defense arguing that the images are private and shouldn't have been released in the first place, while many of her male colleagues have already called for her to step up down. My Mexican mom, with whom I watched the video for the first time--after hearing her gossip about it over the phone with her daughter--was personally disgusted. She thinks Dalia's recent attempts to justify her role in the video by saying it was "decent work" are baloney. Opinions?

I do find it ironic that the film featured a corrupt politician.

As someone who does have some interest in good erotica, I do find it unfortunate that any such activity immediately results in public disgust and the self-destruction of a political career. I would hate to think that, hypothetically, someone's career could be ruined upon discovery of a photo shoot I took.

On the other hand, I still draw a line between erotica and sleaze. As I did not watch the video in question, I can't pass judgment on this particular instance.

I don't see any commentary on your boy's losses last night. In denial?
