17 of 31 states approve bill; Electoral Reform becomes law of the land

With six additional state congresses approving the Electoral Reform bill yesterday, the final tally of states in favor has reached 17, comprising a majority of states and officially making the bill into law. While the measure represented a rare sign of cross-party action, PRD reps have been especially vocal in their support for a bill that they see as a major step in opening up the channels of communication between the citizen and the state. By severely limiting time, money and in general, attention, devoted to political campaigns, the measure encourages the shift of the focus of the state`s mental but also financial power away from itself and toward the citizen.

This is the first Electoral Reform to be passed since 1997.
